We have a blog post that recommends the Painting Contractor give their labor warranty WITH THE BID and not with the contract or after the work is done... why do we recommend this?
It's simple, giving the warranty with the bid helps YOU... giving the warranty with the contract helps the customer. After all, you are in this business to make money and you can't make money without paint jobs. Your first goal should be to get the job and including the warranty with the bid will help you in that goal. Showing the warranty helps your credibility with the customer and helps them choose you over the other painting contractors bidding on their job. "Hiding" the warranty, as if it were some dirty little secret, in the contract boilerplate doesn't assist you in getting customers.
Did you know that most states have "implied" warranties but that most implied warranties are mitigated by any written warranties that the parties to the painting contract agree to? Simply put, if you don't set the terms of your warranty, the state will and you probably won't like that.

- What is covered under this warranty.
- What is excluded under this warranty.
- That this is a warranty for labor only.
- That the paint and other materials used are warranted through the paint and material manufacturer and not your painting company.
- How long your labor warranty is in effect.
- Whether or not the warranty is transferable to a new owner of the property that you painted.
